Proving Stupidity is Contagious!

New York, New York the city so nice they named it twice. Being a lifelong New Yorker it amazes me that so many people regard New York City as the place to be. Of course if you can make it here you can make it anywhere. However this list of 10 reasons why living in New York City is terrible will make you think twice about if making it here is even worth the effort.

10. Smoking will kill you but so will trying to pay $12.50 for a pack of smokes! I know about this all too well. As a pack a day smoker I’m killing myself slowly at a yearly cost of around $4,000. Considering that the average cost of a six pack is only $6 I could stop smoking and turn into a raving alcoholic by drinking a six pack a day and wind up way ahead of the game.

9. Our fantastic job market has the unemployment rate hovering right around 9%! Listen to the politicians and the media and they’d have you think that New York City is flowing with jobs. Sure the jobs are flowing but good paying jobs are not. There’s no way to make it in this city by flipping burgers or making sandwiches.

8. The M.T.A.! When the MTA starts running low on funds they simply increase rates. Millions of commuters rely on the transit system and millions of drivers rely on bridges to get back and forth to work. The MTA simply keeps raising fares and tolls because millions of New Yorkers have no choice but to pay the extra dollars. If would like to go from Queens to the Bronx and back it will only cost you $15 round trip to cross the Triborough Bridge. Of course if you have EZ Pass it’s only $10.66. I will only cost you a little over $213 a month to commute to work if you live in the Bronx and work in Queens. What a bargain. Of course if you prefer not to drive you can take public transportation and pay $2.25 each way or save a few dollars and get a 30 day “limited” unlimited MetroCard at the rock bottom bargain of $112.

7. Middle class living at only $102,000 per year! That’s right ladies and gentleman, if you would like to join the “middle class” in New York City you only need to rake in a measly six figure income. With a median income of around $48,000 per year per household few belong the middle class. If you’re thinking about moving to New York City just think of what you can afford with your middle class income, a used 10 year old Honda and an apartment the size of a closet.

6. Manhattan ranks #1 in cost of living, Brooklyn #2 and Queens #6 as the places to live with the highest cost of living! Alternatives include Honolulu Hawaii or San Francisco. If you’re you need to make a six figure income in order to be included in the middle class why settle for a tropical paradise or “The Home of the San Francisco Treat” when you can live in the lap of luxury in Bushwick, Brooklyn? There is nothing like the sound of the J train zipping past your $1,500 a month apartment at 3am. You’ll sleep like a baby once you get used to the earthquake like conditions.

5. The City that never sleeps! This may have referred to the night life in the past but now represents what you’ll have to do in order to purchase a home in Manhattan, never sleep. Median sales price for a home in Manhattan is only $1,100,000. Of course if you would like affordable housing you can go just outside the city to Long Island and you’ll only have to pay around $400,000 but will have the pleasure of paying over $8,000 a year in property taxes. High home prices in New York City buy affordable taxes or lower home prices in the suburbs with sky high taxes. These are your options, aren’t you exited?

4. Hey Taxi! So you’ve managed to join the New York City “middle class” and need to take a taxi from Manhattan to JFK Airport, it will only cost you $52. If you want to plan your own taxi ride get online and figure out how many miles you need to go. $2.50 for the first 1/5 mile, $0.50 each additional 1/5 mile, $0.40 per minute idle, $1.00 Peak surcharge (after 4pm until 8pm Mon-Fri), $0.50 Night Surcharge (after 8pm until 6am), $0.50 New York State tax, trips beyond city limits may be under flat rates or have meter rate (double the price.), add $17.50 on trips from Manhattan to Newark Airport. At least there are no fees for additional passengers. Of course you can always take public transportation.

3. Public Transportation! There is no greater joy in life than waiting on a train or a bus in New York City. Of course there are schedules but I never have been able to figure out why the city spends so much money on printing schedules when the buses and trains arrive at random times. Once you have your route to work figured out you can get an idea of when your bus or train should arrive but never expect either to arrive at the same time. Sleeping for an extra five minutes may very well lead to you being an hour late to work.

2. Con Edison! There is nothing like having to pay the highest cost in the country for electricity only to have the power reduced when you need the electricity the most. If you’re lucky enough not to have the power go out altogether you can look forward to having to pay $600 for having your home cooled. At least they know their overpriced and are always willing to enter into a payment agreement.

1. Cost of Street Parking! In four out of the five boroughs street parking will cost you $0.25 per 15 minutes or $1 an hour. In Manhattan the cost rises to $0.25 per 10 minutes or $1.50 per hour. Be sure to have plenty of quarters in your car as the Muni Meter’s won’t take anything other than quarters or your credit card. Hopefully the Muni Meter will return your card before the meter maid tickets you for an expired meter. It will only cost you $35 for the ticket but $65 in Manhattan. Rest assured in knowing that there is no way that the city made it difficult to pay for street parking in order to generate revenue for expired meter violations.

As I was driving home from work yesterday I was listening to Hot 97 when a DJ with the news of the day read a statement from rapper J.Cole with regard to a lyric made on a track called “Jodeci Freestyle.”

As I drove I listened to the following being read by the DJ;

“To the entire Autism community who expressed outrage, I’m moved and
inspired by your passion, and I’m amazed at how strong you are as a
unit. I have now read stories online from parents about their
struggles and triumphs with raising an Autistic child and I admire how
incredibly strong you have to be to do so. It’s touching. It also
makes what I said even more embarrassing for me. I feel real shame.
You have every right to be angry.”

That wasn’t the full statement but the simple fact that J. Cole felt it necessary to make a statement and the fact that Drake removed the lyric from the track made me wonder what in the hell could J. Cole have said on the track that had people so outraged?

So earlier today I went to YouTube and listened to the track. After listening I screamed out loud “YOU HAVE TO BE FUCKING KIDDING ME!” I can’t believe the hysteria and public outrage over the following line….

“…go check the numbers dummy. It’s just me getting started. I’m artistic you niggas is autistic retarded…”

Maybe it’s just me but I really don’t get what all the fuss is about. It’s a fact that depending on the severity of autism, autism is considered a form of mental retardation. J. Cole went into his lyrical bag of tricks and came out with a nice line yet has to publicly apologize for including the word “autism” in his rhyme? Did he state that autism is evil? Did he state that being autistic is a choice? Did he state that raising an autistic child is not difficult? NOPE!!!!

It seems that in this day and age people are super sensitive over nonsense but could give a rat’s ass about things that actually matter. Forget the U.S. is a fucking mess. Forget that as a country we are not close to the top 10 in education. Forget that billion dollar corporations get away with not paying income taxes. That shit doesn’t matter yet J. Cole’s 5 second rhyme gets peoples panties in a bunch. It seems that as time goes on people are becoming more stupid…. ahhhh stupider!

19 years ago Redman cut a track called “Can’t Wait” where he rapped “I’m like RUHH, RUHH like I had Cerebral Palsy…..” yet there was no public outrage. There was no need for Redman to make a public statement apologizing to the cerebral palsy community. In my opinion this lyric was more offensive than J. Cole’s lyric but here’s a common sense news flash. It’s a fucking rap song as in entertainment! If you are not entertained by it, don’t listen to it! It’s not meant to be taken literally! It’s a lyric….nothing more…a simple lyric.

At the end of the day it seems that the good old US of A is turning out a bunch if super sensitive pussies. Listen to the radio and you can listen to piss poor rap songs like MACKLEMORE’s/Mary Lamber’s “She Keeps Me Warm.” This topic is nothing more than pure bullshit. If rappers need to apologize for every offense comment made in a song than Nas was right….. Hip Hop is DEAD!

If you want to learn how to blog for money for free, KnowItAll has your back. You may be scratching your head right now and asking yourself “What does this guy with a mess of a blog know about blogging for money?” and “How much money can this guy be making from this blog?” Both are valid questions. However, before I answer those questions I need to explain a few things about this blog.

StupidityIsContagious.com was never created as way to blog for money or make money online in general. That’s right, I created this very blog with no intention of ever making a dime. With that being said, the obvious question is why did I create the blog if not for money.

The simple truth is that I created this blog with no other purpose than to rant about things that really pissed me off. I was full of angry thoughts about various topics yet had no outlet in which to vent my frustrations. I was tossing and turning one night and a thought entered my head…..why not just create a blog? Doing so would allow me to get my thoughts out and the responses I would get would provide me with pure entertainment. I would no longer have to worry about suffering from an aneurism.

In late January of 2010 I began to create StupidityIsContagious.com and the blog went live on February 28th, 2010 with my very first blog post. It felt great to get my thoughts out! However, I started to become bothered by a troubling thought sometime later, almost a year later in fact. I created the blog to vent my frustrations yet I had no idea as to how many people were reading my posts. What was the point of putting my thoughts into writing on a blog if I had no idea as to how many people by rants were reaching? I might as well be talking to myself and I’m right back to where I started!

January 2011 TrafficJANUARY 2011 – 48 Unique Visitors

I needed to rant and people needed to read my rants in order for me to feel fulfilled. I became a man on a mission! I spent whatever free time I had learning as much as I could about WordPress and search engine optimization and began to implement what I had learned when I came across an amazing FREE tool that allowed me to start tracking my blog traffic at no cost. I began to use StatCounter and started tracking my traffic on January 24th, 2011.

I spent almost all my free time researching and implementing what I had learned and the end result was 48 visitors! A lousy 48 visitors over the course of 8 days! An average of 6 freaking people a day after creating 44 blog posts! That’s hours of time that I spent on my keyboard typing away and I reached a freaking 6 people a day! Luckily I’m stubborn. There was no way that I could have possibly done everything wrong. All that I needed to do was tweak things a bit and tweak things I did!

February 2011

February 2011 – 1,907 Unique VISITORS!

Fast forward two and a half years and I get a steady average of a little over 1,100 unique visits per month. What does it cost me for this traffic? $0.00! Nada! Zilch! NOTHING!

All Time to This Posting!Back to the questions posed at the beginning of this post. What do I know about blogging for money? I know that approximately 2% of bloggers make money for their efforts. I know how to get traffic at no cost. I know that if I share my knowledge and you are dedicated to making money from blogging you can make a decent second income.

How much money do I make from this blog? Approximately $2 a month! Like I stated earlier I never had any intention of making an income from this blog. It’s nothing more than an outlet for me to vent about things that piss me off and I have NO DESIRE to start over from scratch with a niche.

I KNOW that if I actually implemented what I know I COULD make a minimum of $1,000 a month. The problem is that I don’t have the time or the desire to devote the time necessary to make that $1,000 a month. The fact of the matter is that I don’t need to make a penny from blogging for money. My wife and I earn over a six figure income at his point in time, which makes us middle class in New York City. However, we will be earning over $200,000 a year within the next 5 years.

At the end of the day, devoting 2+ hours a day to blogging to make $1,000 a month isn’t worth my time. After the tax man screws with me no lube I would stand to earn around $600 a month. $600 a month means nothing to me but may make a huge difference in your life.

If you’re willing to learn I can teach you and it won’t cost you any money or you can fall victim for the below crap like many do.

For How Much?

I can’t believe that people actually fall for crap like Empower Network but then again stupidity runs rampant so perhaps I shouldn’t be as perplexed as I am. Obviously you’re researching the Empower Network “opportunity” so thank me in advance for what you are about to read or simply be thankful that you won’t be another person whose been taken advantage of. If you are an Empower Network Kool-Aid drinker you’re going to be uber (super) pissed about what you are about to read.

Empower Network charges people who would like to earn an online income $25 a month so they can have a blog on a subdomain. They charge people $19.99 a month so they can get paid on commission they earned. Empower Network attempts to upsell people on useless training to the tune of $100 a month! At least they’re not totally bad as a person can purchase additional useless training modules for $500 and $1,000 respectively.

“Empower Network is the best thing since sliced bread! KnowItAll, you’re a jerk and have no clue about what you’re taking about! I love Empower Network!” Don’t be mad at me be mad at yourself for not having the mental capability of conducting research before your splurged on Empower Network to the tune of $1,600. That’s a lot of money as far as I’m concerned yet that is what a person involved with Empower Network would have spent for one month! One month of membership fees, one month of e-wallet, joining their Inner Circle and paying for their two bullshit upsell training videos. $1,600! One thousand six hundred dollars! Now here’s the real kick in the pants! Empower Network is not providing you with anything that you can’t get for FREE! That’s right 100% FREE! How?

WordPress.com Need a blogging platform? Before spending $25 a month to hook up with Empower Network simply head on over to WordPress.com and get your very own WordPress blog. WordPress is the most powerful and used blogging platform in the world and powers the super fantastic blog you are reading at this very moment. Need products to sell? Sign up for any one of the thousands of affiliate programs available on the internet. You get a blog as well as affiliate products to sell and it will cost you $0.

Taking a step back I do realize that some of you reading this post as part of your research regarding Empower Network and some of you who may be with Empower Network may not know anything about blogging software, affiliate products and how to drive traffic to a blog. However, as I stated earlier Empower Network is not providing you with anything you can’t get for free and that includes training. Save yourself at least $100 per month and head on over to WealthyAffiliate.com.

WealthyAffiliate.com is on online community for people looking to make money from blogging and is geared towards those with little to no knowledge of affiliate marketing. Best of all is that it’s 100% FREE. You will get 10 FREE training videos and 2 free blogs as a starter member. All you have to do is watch the videos and follow the instructions. It will cost you nothing but your time. Once you start making a few dollars you can upgrade to their premium membership for a cost of only $47 per month. However, for starters, simply create your free account and go through the training modules.

WealthyAffiliate.com Training

As I stated, Empower Network is a huge scam in that they suck you dry for your money when everything they provide to you as a member can be had for no cost. If you are with Empower Network all I can say is that stupidity is contagious.

So George Zimmerman was found not guilty in the killing of Trayvon Martin! Shocking!!! Yup everyone is shocked and amazed that George Zimmerman “murdered” Trayvon Martin and got away with it. Everyone except for me.

I knew George Zimmerman would be found not guilty before the trial started and it amazes me that so many people are outraged. For starters it took, for the most part, a national outrage campaign for the man to be arrested. Remember, the DA’s office didn’t initially charge him due to lack of evidence. Stupid people need to realize that there is a difference between “right” and the law!

Is it right that Trayvon Martin is no longer on earth because of George Zimmerman? Of course not but in the eyes of the law George Zimmerman didn’t do anything wrong. Remember I said in the eyes of the law. If the dumb bastard would have just stayed in his car and not approached Trayvon Martin to begin with, the kid would have been on his way home eating his Skittles and drinking his iced tea and what happened never happens.

However, when you’re in a gun loving state like Florida shit like this is going to happen. Florida allows people to carry guns to work, keeping it inside your car, and taking it on public transportation. There’s no requirement to register your gun and gun owners are protected against discrimination. With crap like this it’s amazing that a case that this didn’t happen sooner. Point blank you can get a gun in Florida as long as they state cannot prove that you shouldn’t have one. This crap would have never of happened in Brooklyn.

This is not what happened but could of very well been what happened. Either way here’s a free law lesson for you.

Zimmerman gets out of his car and states something like “What are you doing?”
Martin “What the fuck are you doing?”
Zimmerman “Keeping my neighborhood safe.”
Martin “Safe?! What am I dangerous bitch?”
Zimmerman walking towards Martin “Looks like it to me bitch!”

Self defense does not mean that it gives you the right to beat someone’s ass. Self defense means that if you feel threatened or that you are about to be attacked that you are legally allowed to create enough space between you and the potential attacker that will allow you to escape. For example, I approach you, words are exchanged, I think you’re about to whoop my ass, I punch you in the face and flee.

However, this is where the Stand Your Ground bullshit comes into play. Stand Your Ground is basically the same as self defense with the huge exception of not having any legal obligation to flee. Basically ring the bell…DING DING DING! So now Zimmerman is legally carrying a gun and has no legal obligation to flee?! This would have never happened in Brooklyn because Zimmerman would have never gotten out of his car. He would have made a phone call to the precinct and that would have been the end of it. However, it’s Florida so let’s pick up the action.

Zimmerman just finished calling Trayvon Martin a bitch so Trayvon is about to whoop that ass. However, Zimmerman, being the punk bitch that he is, knows he’s carrying a gun and there is no way in his mind that this tall, skinny kid is going to kick his ass. He knows that he is legally allowed to “Stand His Ground” so now it’s time to get it on. However, he wasn’t expecting the can of whoop ass that this kid was about to unleash.

Zimmerman gives him the go time look. Zimmerman swings at Trayvon Martin and misses. Trayvon stuns him with a quick right and drops Zimmerman. Now remember I previously wrote about self defense law. Legally, Trayvon should have retreated but then again he is legally allowed to “Stand His Ground” so Trayvon decided he’s going to kick the ever loving shit out of the asshole who stopped him walking back from the store with Skittles and an iced tea just for wearing a hoody in the rain.

Now Zimmerman is on his back getting his ass whooped by a 17 year old and is thinking “How in the hell did this happen. I have to get away. What a minute I have gun. I’m going to shoot this fucker!” Zimmerman manages to take a few head shots while he reaches for his gun. Gets a hold of it and BANG!! Trayvon is no longer.

This is an unfortunate example of something that happened that shouldn’t have happened. However, in the eyes of the LAW, Zimmerman didn’t do anything wrong. He was legally allowed to carry a gun and had no legal obligation to retreat. As much as I hate living in New York City I know that this scenario would not have ever, ever happened. Zimmerman would have never chased Trayvon Martin or approached him. Why? NO GUNS ALLOWED!

Trayvon Martin leaves behind his mother, father, family and friends all because a pussy with a gun decided to chase him down and get his ass whooped. A 17 year old kid with a future yet to unfold is gone and a 28 year old pussy gets to live the rest of his life knowing that he fucked up but was found “Not Guilty” because the law was on his side.

Like I stated before…Zimmerman was found not guilty in the killing of Trayvon Martin! Shocking!!! Nope not really.
